last day

The Saturday before Advent begins is the last day of the year. We start a new one tomorrow. Unlike the calendar year new years eve we don't have parties, or celebrations like that, instead we have times for preparing for Christimas.

So perhaps you might want to make some Resolutions. Resolutions that will be upheld in these next weeks as you prepare for Christmas. What will make this Advent, this Christmas different? For some it will be that there is someone missing around the tree or at the table. For some it will be that someone new has joined the family through birth or marriage. (Me I have a new son in India.) And for others it is that they are alone. What are you going to do to make this the most special Christmas? What are you going to do to make it special for someone else?
What letter are you going to write that will help someone? What note of thanks to someone from your past or present that needs to hear from you and that you need to write? What simple kindnesses along the way?
