"The bird sings no one asks why"

There is a Gary Larson cartoon with a chicken standing on one side of a road the sign says, "Why not?"


Why do we stand
On one side of the road
and just wait?

We are not chicken
but children of God
who have feet and brains and a will to obey.

It does take some will
to obey the Creator
and be who we were created to be.
It does take some will
to say Your way not mine
and remember the plan that's ahead.

We'd rather stand still
and not do what we're called to.
We'd rather be settled and set in our ways.
We confess that with laughter
not recognizing our own sin there.
Someone else can just do it
we'll stay right here.

Or we do too much more than our share
and someone else is left out of giving
because we have done for them
what they could do for themselves
to feel whole
and we assume we are the
Mother/Father of the whole world
and it is our job to take care of everything.
(never admitting that when we do we feel more important)

There are no excuses
about all the ranting
we do without doing all that we can.
God gave us brains and expects us to use them.
Let's get on going -there's no holding back.
