Ten Years

We got a call ten years ago today from one of our members who said, turn on the tv, there are horrible things happening. We were in Utah and turned on the tv and watched the coverage of the bombing in OKC. Now ten years later we live in Oklahoma.

There is a piece of the building in the church. So that people remember.
I know there will be a lot of musings. And the THEY who did this were really part of us. Not some foreign entity.

Schools know all too well how the outcasts and those who are bullied sometimes turn to violence to be heard.

Who do you know who lives their lives without a voice? Without someone to speak for them. Who do you know who needs to have someone listen to them?

Yesterday I passed a jail with all the men outside, playing basketball, standing around looking at the world, razor wire on the tip of the fence. and I thought... When did I see you hungry, or in prison? That quote from Jesus about caring for him through the least of these.

Could someone listening have helped the anger in the bomber of the Murrah bilding not turn to violence or revenge?

Let's listen to each other. deeply.

God abide
