The Diner
Hello Grace and Peace
We are getting ready to head west and back home. We will get to see Aunts and Uncle along the way. We are looking forward to visiting with them.
This morning we went to breakfast at Billy's Diner in downtown Bethlehem. We had a fine breakfast and as we were finishing our second cup of coffee a red car pulled up in front.
The driver, an older woman, and I say that with affection, got out and opened the trunk and began assembling a walker for the passenger. It took her about 5 minutes to put all the components together--again. I say again because she did it deftly but it took some time. She lined up the walker, set the brake. On cue the other woman opened the car door and began to step out. The first woman reached behind her and pulled out the portable oxygen tank. They got her up on the curb and she began to arrange her things in the walker cart, purse, oxygen, and she started out. But the brake was still on and they both giggled as the first woman released it. They came into the diner. They both were smiling. It was going to be a good day.
My guess from looking at both of them was that they are sisters. There seemed to be some kind of family resemblance. This was not a new 'dance' they were doing together. It is what you do for someone you love.
It touched me to watch them they were patient with themselves and each other. We all move so fast, or try to move quickly from one thing or place to another.
These two woman danced together slowly and deliberately and I must say beautifully. It is going to be a good day.
