Lost and Found

I went to look for something I thought I might have lost at Dillards in OKC and the kind lady brought up a big shoe box full of things that had been turned in. There were about 9 or 10 cell phones. The cell phones were really expensive ones too. There were lots and lots of car keys, some with the electronic lock system on them. --- Really a lot of car keys. We looked through the box but alas what I sought was not there.

I was also impressed that so many of these things had acutally been turned in..that's a lot of honest people.

In a world when we hear of horrible things happening between people and to people--- we want to believe that basically the people in the world are
"in-deed" and indeed GOOD. We want to believe that people are kind and want the best for others. These are the kind of people we want around us.

But in community we ALSO want to BE the kind of people that others want to be around. We don't gather in worship for ourselves but for all those who also worship with us. We gather becuse God has called us by name and asked us to be there with one another to rest in the Word and to celebrate the goodness of God's love for all of creation. Jesus' work was not hidden behind doors in safe paces but out in the world and our work is called to be at the same place. Jesus work was not with the famous and important, it was with the most vulnerable. Jesus' work was rarely with individuals...but in community. Sometimes it was a community created by his action toward someone who was an outcast. In God's reign there are no outcasts.

We work on creating community which in so many ways speaks of the world as God desires it to be. When we work for this new world we are no longer lost...we are found!

God abide
